Oh yes, I braved myself to go alone to Montalban to get a glimpse of the famous Avilon Zoo.
I had a great time especially with the birds, Siberian and Sumatra Tigers and lobo (Angel Locsin, is that you?). Too bad, I wasn't able to take a picture (even a glimpse) of the zoo's Panthera Leo.
There were some places/cages that I wasn't able to take any pictures. It was too dark and flash cameras were not allowed.
I was surprised that there are squirrels that are endemic and we have our own mongoose too. Ü
How to get there? Well, I took an FX from Robinson's East (signage: Montalban Plaza) then I asked the driver to drop me off at Total Gas Station in Montalban (fare: Php 25). Then I hitched a tricycle to Avilon for Php 40. Entrance fee is Php 208. To get back to civilization, just reverse the steps how to get there. It took me an hour from my place in Taytay to Avilon this afternoon but traffic was bad on my way back. I didn't hire a tour guide (it costs Php 350) at the zoo but it took me around 2.5 hours to circle around the zoo. 'Twas tiring actually but still great. An afternoon well spent. Ü
