The Tony award winning Musical hit the big screen in December 2007. Thanks to MMFF, hence the late showing in Manila. Johnny Depp played the demon barber, Sweeney Todd, in its movie-musical adaptation directed by Tim Burton.
I personally enjoyed the film despite of negative comments from other bloggers. Hey, I'm a musical addict hahahaha. I laughed, almost teary eyed, disgusted and a whole lot of other emotions while watching it. One thing's for sure... I'll never see meat pies and quiche lorraines the same way again.
You'll see familiar faces in the movie like Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat), Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter) , Alan Rickman (Severus Snape in Harry Potter) and Timothy Spall (Wormtail in Harry Potter).
I'll give the movie four stars for 2 reasons: 1_ they were able to make Johnny depp sing! whatda?!?! 2_ Quintin Tarantino fans will surely love the morbid, gory and bloody attacks of the demon barber!
